Scottish Equality Run 2015 - 5K & 10K

Sunday, 6th September, 2015

The Scottish Equality Run is a new inclusive running event in the heart of Scotland. There will be a 5K and a 10K event. Both events will be chip-timed if you are interested in knowing your time or setting yourself a target, but of course it's the taking part that counts. The course is all off-road on the Stirling University Campus with stunning scenery and fantastic views across to the National Wallace Monument and beyond. It's mostly on the flat with one small hill. This makes it a great run if you've never done one before, but also really good if you are aiming for a great personal time.

Our motto for the event is 'Walk it, stroll it, run it, roll it' and that means that you set the pace that you're comfortable with. As an inclusive event, we particularly welcome your entry if you are using a wheelchair or if you wish to push a buggy round the route too.

Changing facilities and indoor space is available at the Gannochy Sports Centre which is at the start / finish point meaning that the run is as comfortable as we can make it, and that there is space for friends and relatives. The family zone will have plenty to keep the young kids entertained, the café will be open for drinks, snacks and lunches, and there will be some stalls on the day too.

LEAP Sports Scotland exists to champion inclusion in sport and outdoor activity for all. Whilst the work of LEAP Sports is focused upon the LGBTI community, the Scottish Equality Run is an opportunity to raise awareness of equality issues in sport more broadly, and we welcome all entrants.

COST:

Entering the 5K costs £10 (£9 early bird) and the 10K costs £12 (£11 early bird). To get the early bird discount, you need to sign up before the 31st July. If that's not enough to get you signed up, then there is also a special prize draw which the first 50 entrants will be entered into.

PRIZES:

There will be prizes for winners on the day across different age groups, but also spot prizes for participation to be awarded on the day, as well as the customary goody bag at the end.

EVENT PARTNERS:

This event is organised by LEAP Sports Scotland in conjunction with Edinburgh Frontrunners and Glasgow Frontrunners. We are also grateful for the support and partnership of Scottish Athletics and Stirling University.

We are also very grateful to the support we've received from Big Lottery Fund and Run4it. We are still looking for further sponsors to support this event. If you would be able to help, or wish to discuss this further, please email us with your details.

Fancy volunteering?

Get in touch if you don't fancy walking or running but would like to come along and help out either by marshalling, officiating or helping out with our stalls. You can sign up at this link here to become a volunteer.

Running for a good cause?

Many participants want to raise money for a good cause when they enter an event. If you are looking for inspiration and would like to check out a few Equalities charities who would be grateful to have your support, then check out our page here.
