ARRIVAL & PARKING

Approaching the Dome from Al Waab St and turn into Sports City St. Cross the 1st roundabout then take the second left into the public car park close to the football training pitches. If you are leaving early or arriving late please be aware that there may be competitors on the run course so please do take care! Follow the signs to the Registration desk.

RACE DAY RACE PACK COLLECTION

Race pack collection and transition opens at 05:30. The swimming pool will be open from 06:30 for warm-up. The race brief starts at 06:40, at 07:00 sharp first competitor will start with following athletes starting at pre-set timed intervals thereafter. Everyone MUST register before the race starts. Registration is located outside of the Academy cafeteria. Please quote your surname when registering so that you can be body-marked. We will be writing your race number on your hand with permanent marker pen.

ELECTRONIC TIMING

To ensure accurate times and results, every competitor will receive a timing chip to use whilst racing. Using this cutting edge technology will mean that splits, category positions and results will be updated live as competitors pass the finish line. The timing chip must be worn on your leg, around the ankle. When you have finished, please remember to return your timing chip to our marshals. If your timing chip is not returned after the race, you will be charged for the chip. Once you are wearing the timing chip, please ensure that you do not cross the timing mats at any time other than when you are competing, otherwise you may get a misleading race time. To avoid this problem do not come anywhere close to the blue mats prior to the event. Failure to comply with this request will trigger your timing chip and could invalidate your result.

SWIM START

You will set off at pre-set intervals in the pool. You should be on pool side at least 5-10 minutes before your swim start. You will be given a timing chip on pool side – this needs to be worn on your ankle throughout the race – including the swim. Once you have your chip on please do not cross the blue timing mats unless you are racing!

A swim starter will brief you and start you off at the allotted time – you will be called a few minutes before the start so please be ready. The pool swim follows a simple system where you swim one length in each lane of the pool – map attached. On completion exit the water and make your way to the swim/run transition. We know it is a race but please do not run on poolside!

TRANSITION 1 AND 2

NB Competitors only in transition. Once you have completed your swim make your way into transition. This is where you should have placed a towel, bike, running shoes, shorts and t-shirt. Please dress accordingly before heading out to the run. T-shirts / vests must be worn. You may also want a cap, sunglasses etc. Most competitors will simply pull their run clothing on over the top of their swim attire. Once ready please make your way through transition and on to the run course – map attached.

TEAM ENTRIES

If you are part of a team the swimmer should make their way into transition and tap hand/shoulder of their runner. Chip is only given to the runner of the team who must attach the chip to their ankle before starting the run.

FINISH

The Finish line is adjacent to transition so make your big finish in the last few metres and cross the timing mat to complete your race.

Please ensure all children who are finishing the race are supervised properly, the event staff will not have time to do this if the supervising adult is also competing!
