Entry Terms & Conditions

All entrants to British Triathlon sanctioned events must be members of British Triathlon which covers them for civil liability and personal accident insurance during the event. The non-member fee, which is included provides day membership insurance with British Triathlon.

If you have purchased a British Triathlon Race Pass, you are required to adhere to the terms and conditions as set out on the British Triathlon website. More information about the British Triathlon Race pass is available here Race Pass – British Triathlon.

A Race Pass provides a race licence and public liability insurance cover up to £15 million. Public liability insurance is defensive cover that protects an individual if they cause an accident injuring or damaging someone else or someone else’s property. This only applies if the individual is legally responsible for the accident. Compensation is paid from the insurers to the person pursuing the claim, so that the individual does not have to pay the full amount. Individuals will only pay the excess of £250 if a claim for injury or damage is successful.

Participating in a triathlon requires fitness and skill. I confirm that I have done sufficient training to ensure that I am fit enough to cope with the demands of this event and that my technical skills are adequate for the diverse requirements of the competition.

I accept that taking part in this event is by its nature hazardous and contains certain inherent
risks including, but not limited to:

• Drowning during the swim section
• Suffering injury and damage arising out of a crash or collision during the cycle section
• Suffering injury due to the actions of other competitors or spectators
• and other foreseeable risks to which I consent.

I accept that I owe a significant duty of care to all other competitors, spectators and race officials. I will exercise all reasonable care to avoid causing death, injury or loss to any such persons and will indemnify the event organisers and British Triathlon from and against any liability found against them arising out of my negligent or reckless acts.

I accept that in the event of my requiring medical attention during the event the medical personnel appointed by the event organiser take no responsibility for the treatment provided for any unreported existing condition which increases the risk of a medical emergency.

I acknowledge that the event organiser has relied on this statement (in its entirety) in accepting my entry to the event and that if I was unable or unwilling to agree to all the matters set out above in this statement of responsibility the event organiser would not allow me to compete. All statements of fact are true.

I accept that the organisers of this event cannot be held responsible for any injury or loss caused whilst taking part and I fully understand the risks and degree of fitness required to take part in the event.

I accept that entry fees are non-refundable and that prior to the closing date my entry can be deferred to the following year's event. Should I be unable to take part, or the event is cancelled, no further deferrals are allowed, and the entry is forfeited.

In signing up for this event, I agree to my personal data being shared with the organisations listed below for the purposes of organising, delivering, and administering the event. 

• British Triathlon (incorporating Triathlon England, Triathlon Scotland, Welsh Triathlon) in order to help them administer their day membership service. The information shared includes name, address, telephone number, date of birth and gender. Further information about how British Triathlon uses this information can be found in the British Triathlon Privacy Notice.
• StuWeb in order to provide event delivery and timing services. Further information on how StuWeb uses this information can be found in stuweb’s privacy policy
• The appointed medical provider for purposes of providing medical cover for the event.

I accept and acknowledge that the Organiser has the right to use images, photographs and video taken by their contracted photographers, volunteers and employees at the Event without informing the Participant. These images will only be used for the purposes of promoting, reporting and broadcasting the event, and any other promotion related to the business activities of the Organiser. Any individual who does not wish to have their image used by the organiser for these purposes must inform the organiser via email no later than one week prior to the event. Notification closer to, or after the Event can be made and the organiser will use its best endeavours to prevent images of that individual being used but cannot guarantee it.
